Its cheap rents attracted a cross selection of working-class Parisians, and its cabarets and cafes attracted countless artists, including museum-worthy names– Picasso, Renoir, Matisse, Degas, and on and on.Īmid its brasseries and bistros, Montmartre also had brothels – lots of them. Though we often don’t think about them in this way, dogs are really about people - those long-ago (or, sometimes, not-so-long-ago) figures who developed particular breeds for particular tasks.
